Teaching is an essential component of faculty work, and documenting your teaching effectively is essential for the process of Promotion and Tenure and Annual Review, as well as for reflecting upon and improving your teaching. In this session, participants will review the requirements for documenting teaching, observe examples of how to document a variety of types of teaching, and have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss teaching documentation with the presenter and fellow participants.

MedEdPORTAL is an open, free educational resource provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges and other academic partners. This one-hour workshop will introduce the breadth and depth of teaching materials available to medical educators. You will also learn how to publish your educational innovations and gain maximum exposure of your work in this database. After publishing in MedEdPORTAL, you will retain copyright of your original work through a Creative Commons license. You will receive data about how your contribution is used globally. Bring a laptop to explore MedEdPORTAL during the session.

Virginia Delaney-Black, Vice Dean of Faculty Affairs for the School of Medicine, presented the first session of "Promotion & Tenure 101 series: Overview and Dossier Preparation Tips" in Margherio Conference Center.
This presentation provided an overview of the faculty Promotion and Tenure process from the department through university levels. We reviewed the components of a P&T dossier and recommended strategies to present effective materials for review.
Publishing Case Reports seminar

Are you planning to publish a medical case report?
Although your chances of publishing in a mainstream journal are slim, a vast number of new open-access journals focus on publishing case reports and have higher acceptance rates. Unfortunately, many of these journals employ questionable publishing practices.
This session will provide an introduction to "case reports journals", guidance for distinguishing between reputable and non-reputable journals, and tips for writing high-quality case reports.

Maria S. Kokas, PhD, presented FD4ME Active Adult Learning session: "The Practical Side of Feedback" in Margherio Conference Center.
This session focused on feedback and practical application of actionable concepts from the perspectives of those giving as well as receiving feedback.
It included didactics and opportunities for skill development to prepare you to train others to better understand and implement more skilled feedback behaviors in medical education settings.
Participants of this seminar :
- Expanded their knowledge of feedback principles and their application.
- Identified strategies to enhance their instructional abilities from a learner-centric perspective.
- Learned to conduct training sessions for faculty and trainees to help them formulate personal feedback constructs and scripts that incorporate question-asking and listening skills

Promotion & Tenure at WSU: Policies and Advise (School of Medicine)"

John Vander Weg, Associate Provost for Academic Personnel, and Virginia Delaney-Black, Vice Dean of Faculty Affairs for the School of Medicine co-moderated "Promotion & Tenure at WSU: Policies and Advise (School of Medicine)" in Margherio Conference Center.
The presentation included testimonials regarding the processes of promotion and tenure from Alana Conti, Associate Professor of neurosurgery; David Edelman, Associate Professor of surgery; and Sokol Todi, Associate Professor of pharmacology.
The topics included:
- What it means to be on tenuretrack: point of view of your department; what a probationary period means
- What to do: importance of mentoring with the right mentor; understanding the university
- P&T process & preparing the case: external reviews & the role of the candidate; professional record; personal statement
- Details on the assignment and where to go for help and advice: expectations on teaching, research and grants, and service
